Well  Chlorination

Will County Well & Pump Co., Inc. technicians are adequately trained to disinfect well water with a high level of coliform, E. coli bacteria, or nitrates. Well chlorination is a standard method used to disinfect private water supplies and return them to a level that is safe to use and drink.

Chlorine disinfection is effective against most pathogenic bacteria. Once chlorine is placed in the well system, it will need to sit for up to 24 hours. The water supply may NOT be used during this recommended time. Once complete, it will take about an hour to flush the water system and ensure all the chlorine is gone, and the water is running clean. Finally, a new water sample will be taken and sent to a laboratory to be retested.
